About Fishkeeping at Home

Fishkeeping at Home is an independent freshwater equipment publication. We help UK beginners and hobbyists understand filtration, heating, lighting, water tests and the tools involved in everyday aquarium care.

What you will find here

Our guides explain what a specification changes in practice: how equipment fits, what it measures and what maintaining it involves. Fish needs and water compatibility guide the equipment choices. Marine reef systems are outside this publication's scope.

How we work

We use manufacturer documentation and recognised freshwater care guidance, then explain the trade-offs in plain English. Sources appear with the advice they support. Read the editorial policy and source policy for our standards.

Some buying guides contain affiliate links. Qualifying purchases help support the publication; the affiliate disclosure explains how they work.
