Our aim is useful freshwater equipment advice: a clear answer, a reason for the choice and the limits that matter to the reader.

Product choices

We check exact model information, what is included and suitability for the job. A manufacturer's aquarium rating is a starting point rather than a guarantee for every fish. We distinguish product claims from our own selection reasoning and avoid unsupported accuracy rankings, universal stocking formulas and volatile price claims.

Evidence and corrections

We prefer manufacturer instructions for installation and specifications, and recognised freshwater guidance for care. New evidence or a reliable correction can change a recommendation.

Commercial relationships

Affiliate income does not set the conclusions or order of choices. Pages featuring product links carry an affiliate disclosure at the bottom.

Welfare in context

We explain relevant care needs where they affect a choice or action. A water result is not a disease diagnosis. Species requirements and the actual aquarium determine what equipment is suitable.
